NOTICE
OF ELECTION FOR OFFICERS OF
PIPEFITTERS LOCAL 208
May 8, 2008

27, 2008
There will be a Special Call Meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 7:00 pm, at
6350 N. Broadway, Denver, Colorado, for nominations of Local 208 Officers Elections;
which will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Eligibility to run for Office, SEC. 121 – No
member shall be eligible to be nominated for office in
any local union unless he shall be a journeyman
member and shall have been a member of the
United Association and the local union in good standing
for at least a period of two (2) years
immediately prior to the election.
Any journeyman member who owes or has paid a reinstatement
fee within a period of two (2) years immediately prior
to the date of the election shall not be eligible
to be nominated for office.
The following
officers will be nominated and elected to a (3) three year term:
President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Inside Guard, Finance
Committee of (3) three members, Executive Board of (4) four members,
Examining Board of (5) five members, (2) two Business Agents and (1) one
Business Manager, who shall serve as a Financial Secretary Treasurer.
Also, on
May 27th, the President will appoint an election committee that will
consist of (5) five members who shall over see all aspects of the election
process.
- June 28, 2008
On Saturday, June 28, 2008 polls open from 8:00 am till 5:00 pm, at 6350 N. Broadway, Denver Colorado, for the election of Local 208 Officers. Eligibility to vote is as follows:
Eligibility to Vote SEC.124 (a)
– No member shall vote at any election of any description unless he
has been a member in good standing in the local union
where the vote is being taken for a period of
one (1) year immediately prior to the date of election.
Any member who owes or has paid a
reinstatement fee within a period of one (1) year
immediately prior to the date of election shall not be
eligible to vote.
- July 22, 2008
In the event of a tie vote for an Officers position, the
run off election will be held on
July 22, 2008 at the next meeting 7:00 PM at 6350 N. Broadway, Denver, Colorado.
Installation of Officers will be held at a special call meeting on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 7:00 pm at 6350 N. Broadway, Denver, Colorado.

LOCAL 208 SCHOLARSHIP FUND

208 Members
I am pleased to announce
that the membership voted and accepted my proposal to establish the Pipefitters
Local 208 Scholarship Fund. A
dependent son or daughter of a current active member is now eligible and
encouraged to apply for a $500.00 scholarship to help pay the cost of higher
education. Complete rules and the application can be found on our
website, www.pipe208.com, or call the hall to have
it mailed to you.
I urge you, therefore, to
advise your dependent sons and daughters to participate in this fine and worthy
program, and to discuss with their counselors the various academic requirements
necessary to qualify them for the financial assistance available to them through
this scholarship fund. Scholarship
awards will be made only to qualified applicants as outlined in the Rules and
Regulations for the Scholarship Fund.
As a guideline to courses
preparatory to scholarship qualification your dependent son or daughter should
take four years of English courses, plus courses in Mathematics, Science a
foreign language and other preparatory academic sources.
This type of preparation is essential for a student to attain an SAT
(Scholastic Aptitude Test) score of 500 or better, and thus enable him or her to
successfully complete the rigorous college programs for which the award is
designed.
The Independent Academic
Evaluator has the exclusive responsibility of awarding the scholarships solely
on the merits of the applicants, and his decision is final.
Application forms are
available at Pipefitters Local Union 208, 6350 N. Broadway, Denver, Colorado 80216 so
as to be received on or before Friday,
July 11, 2008. Any
application received after this date will not be recognized. Announcement of the awards will be made in October 2008.
10- $500.00 scholarships will be awarded.
